Bitumen
Bitumen is a viscous, non-crystalline, black or dark brown substance that is soluble in organic solutions, such as toluene and carbon disulfide, and has adhesive and waterproof properties. Bitumen is generally composed of hydrocarbons, which usually contain 80% carbon and 15% hydrogen. Other residues in Bitumen include oxygen, sulfur, nitrogen and various metals. Bitumen can be obtained from various sources and occurs naturally. Bitumen amount in crude oil can be different, the usual range of such material is between 15% and 80%, but the more normal range is 25% to 40%. Bitumen has some market grades as following:
– Cut back Bitumen
– Emulsion Bitumen
