Ferrosilicon

Ferrosilicon is one of the types of ferrous alloys containing 80-60% by weight of silicon. This alloy is the result of silicon recovery from silica stone or silica sand in a bed of steel. Ferrosilicon is produced in excess of 50% in arc furnaces and in quantities less than 20% in tall furnaces. The percent silicon in ferrosilicon is typically 75%. Contains 2% aluminum and calcium impurities.
