Caustic Soda Flake in Leather industry
Caustic Soda Flake is used a lot in leather industry. In the past, it took nearly three months to produce leather in the traditional way, without using caustic soda flake. In the leather industry, after removing wool and non-fibrous proteins and de-hairing with lime, they use soda ash for degreasing. The skin of some animals, including sheep and dogs, has fat, which must be removed before tanning. Caustic soda flake has high corrosive properties and dissolves fat in large quantities. For this reason, in leather and tanning workshops and factories, fat is removed by caustic soda flake.
