LABSA is one of the cheapest surfactants used in the detergent industry and is the most important and widely used surfactant in the formulation of powder and liquid detergents. LABSA is used as a cleansing, foaming and stain removal agent in most detergent formulations. LABSA with the general formula HSO3R, are water-soluble, non-volatile and dehumidifying, and is used as emulsifiers, additives and lubricating oils, and to prevent corrosion and rust. LABSA Used as a supplier of the sulfonyl group in anthroquinone dyes. Sulfad antibacterial agents are produced from LABSA, which is used medicinally.
