Ferrosilicon in cast iron industry as an inoculation and spheroid agent. Steel Adding a certain amount of ferrosilicon in cast iron can prevent carbide formation in iron, cause graphite precipitation and spheroidization, and therefore in the production of malleable iron, ferrosilicon is an important impurity (to help graphite precipitation) and spheroidization.
